A mixed outcome with overall employment up 1.4%
The annual job survey completed every May for the preceding year at EuroAirport has produced for 2009 results with a mixed picture although employment is on the rise again.
In fact, the 91 net jobs created in the survey period (+1.4%) largely come from the aircraft maintenance and systems sector. In this area, 375 new jobs (+17%) were generated in 2009 making this sector a centre of excellence at EuroAirport, employing a total of 2,566 people corresponding to around 40% of all employees working on the airport site. The new Zone 6bis generated almost 800 jobs in two years.
The freight and express freight sectors come in second with 1,055 employees (-2.8%) ahead of the airline companies with 813 people, this business showing a steep decline in comparison to 2008 (-20%).
