Growth at the EuroAirport - new South Terminal to open in June 2005

At its meeting on 4 March, 2005, the Board of Directors of the EuroAirport has decided to put into service the South Terminal building (hall 4, Swiss sector) in June of this year. The new terminal will open as soon as the finishing work has been completed (installation of electronic display boards, wiring, etc) and the necessary authorizations obtained.

Recent traffic developments and the scope of the summer 2005 programme as it is presently taking shape are the two key factors indicating that the time is ripe to open up these new areas to the public. The new South Terminal provides up to 20 additional check-in counters.

The opening of the new South Terminal constitutes the last important stage in the completion of the EuroAirport’s extension programme launched in 1998 and involving investments of 230 million € over a six-year period. The EuroAirport extension programme consisted of constructing a new finger dock (inaugurated in 2001), building  the North Terminal in the French sector, which went into service in 2002, and the South Terminal in the Swiss sector, for which the principal construction work was completed in 2003.

Equipped with this new tool, the EuroAirport can now provide its customers with infrastructures entirely suited to their needs. The EuroAirport will continue to work on improving the quality of its services and developing its offer of shops in order to meet the specific requirements of its passengers and the public.
