EuroAirport job survey 2008: employment up 9.7% with the creation of 570 new jobs, 435 alone in the aircraft maintenance and refurbishment sector. The annual job survey completed each year at the end of May confirms EuroAirports dynamic development in 2008 with the creation of 570 new jobs on the airport platform, 435 of which were created in the newly developed Zone 6 bis alone.
Of the 6,475 jobs as per 31 December 2008, 2,191 (34%) are located in the area of aircraft maintenance and refurbishment, reflecting the vitality of this business segment at EuroAirport. With 1,085 employees, freight represents the second major job sector (17%) ahead of the airline companies with 1,016 persons (16%).
Seventy-three different nationalities are represented on the airport platform, headed by the French (3,963 or 61%), then the Swiss (1,158 or18%), Germans (589 or 9%) and British (106 or 2%).
Of the 132 companies that participated in the survey, 73 are situated in the Swiss customs zone and 59 in the French customs zone. 5,102 employees (79%) work for Swiss companies and 1,373 (21%) for French companies.
Finally, of the 6,475 employees at the airport platform, 4,181 (65%) are resident in France, 1,702 (26%) in Switzerland and 425 (7%) in Germany. The main places of residence are Saint-Louis and Mulhouse in France with 411 and 409 persons, Basel and Allschwil in Switzerland with 710 and 107 persons, and Lörrach in Germany with 83 persons. |
