Thomas Mahrer is the new head of EuroAirport’s Environmental Department. Jürg W. Tschopp retires.

On August 28, 2009 Jürg W. Tschopp left the Environmental Department of EuroAirport to take up his retirement. He is succeeded by Thomas Mahrer who took over his new position today on September 1, 2009.

 

After nine years as head of the Environmental Department at EuroAirport, Jürg W. Tschopp left on August 28, 2009 for retirement. The airport Management Team thanks Jürg W. Tschopp for his commitment to the airport and wishes him well for the future.


Thomas Mahrer has taken up his position as Head of the Environment Department on September 1. Working closely with airport Management and together with a small team, Mahrer will contribute to develop EuroAirport's environmental policy and management.

Thomas Mahrer graduated as a forestry engineer at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich before completing an MBA in Business Engineering at the University of St. Gallen. He has over 20 years of professional experience in the area of environment and mobility.

He began his career by working in the Environmental Department of the Swiss Federal Railways between 1987 and 1992. Between 1992 and 1998, he was technical officer for environment and statistics at the General Secretariat of the Federal Department of Home Affairs. From 1998, he worked at the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO) and was responsible, for example, for the design of a remote-controlled orientation system for the Federal road network, the project development of an information system for road and traffic management, and management of a subsidiary responsible for the maintenance of Federal roads.


Thomas Mahrer is a Swiss citizen. Born in Möhlin (Aargau), he attended the mathematics and natural science grammar school in Basel. His native language is German and he also speaks French and English. Thomas Mahrer is 49 years old and is married with two children.
